Tournaments and travel

Debating is not just about practicing your public speaking skills. It’s also about competition, fun, challenging yourself, learning new things, and lots of travel!

Join international debating tournaments around the world!

Joining international debating tournaments is a truly amazing experience. At every tournament you’ll enjoy the company of not only the great EDS delegations, but also the many debaters from all over the world. You can meet some of the best debaters and public speakers, compete with them and learn from them. In addition to this you get to travel around the world and spend your spare time exploring the cities in which tournaments are usually held. Check out some of the amazing places EDS teams and judges have traveled to in 2017 and will travel to in 2018 here.

If you want to join a tournament as either a judge or debater feel free to ask around on Monday evenings or in the Facebook group. Same goes for finding a team partner, or actually figuring out which tournaments are available. You can also always send an email to the board. Check out some of the upcoming tournaments in Europe by browsing the European Debating Calendar.

Erasmus Rotterdam Open

Erasmus Rotterdam Open (ERO) is an international tournament organized by the Erasmus Debating Society. As a member of the Erasmus Debating Society you can either participate, help organize it, or volunteer. Stay tuned for updates by liking the ERO Facebook page.

Internal Tournaments

We organize various internal tournaments for practice, fun, and glory. We have Pro-Am tournaments, in which experienced debaters and beginners team up to compete. We also hold Dino tournaments where our older members come to show off their skills (or lack thereof…). Usually we end each semester with the amazing semester finals in which you can see how well you’ve improved over the year. And sometimes we hold tournaments just because we can and want to.
